A new alternative tourism agency in Rhodes, and an identity drawn stitch by stitch from the traditional costume of Embonas.
Rhodian Roots is a new alternative tourism agency in Rhodes, built for travellers who want more than the classic routes: food, culture and nature experiences that connect them with the island's real life.
The brief was simple to say and hard to do: an identity that shows exactly what the name promises - Rhodian roots.
We went to the source. The whole identity is built on cross-stitch and the patterns of the traditional costume of Embonas - the village where Rhodian Roots is based, and an inseparable part of the island's history.
The primary mark combines three elements found in almost every pattern of the costume: a double R for the initials, the rhombus - a symbol of protection, balance and tradition - and the flower, for vitality and a bond with nature. Every element is drawn stitch by stitch.
The colours come from the island itself - pomegranate, the Aegean, olive groves, sandstone and mandarin - and the typography keeps it modern, with the feel of a hand-painted village sign.
